Film Production Work

Spring in Wyoming

I’ve always loved the look of gritty, grainy movies from the 1960s & 70s. Films today feel too sterile and lack a cinematic look that transports viewers into the film. I recently shot a few rolls of 16mm film paired with a collection of anamorphic lenses to try and recapture a vintage look that I love as I documented springtime in Wyoming.

Beyond The Fantasy

Mountains provide the ultimate canvas for skiers & snowboarders to evolve dreams into truth, and with no lack of adrenaline-pumping action, this film celebrates the contagious camaraderie and joyous absurdities that make riding on snow a way of life.

As a member of Teton Gravity Research’s Digital Media and Content team, I assisted in the pre-production process, sponsorship collaboration, and content release strategy surrounding the release of its 29th annual ski & snowboard film. Together, my team and I created marketing strategies surrounding the film’s release for our website, TGRTV streaming service, and a variety of social media channels.

In addition to the feature-length film, I helped to plan digital short series concepts, a collection of episodes that elaborate on deeper storylines that occurred throughout the year while filming, but are better told adjacent to the film. These included episodes such as athlete gear kits, behind the line, location, or athlete-specific features, director/editor’s cuts, skit behind the scenes, and viral moments.

Beyond The Fantasy Features

As a writer, I integrated editorial concepts into the marketing and promotion of the film (athlete gear kit, exclusive interviews, in-depth write-ups on the production of the film, and behind-the-scenes backstories.

After the film’s release, I helped to manage the international tour of over 200 film showings, traveling and introducing the film to audiences across the country, and meeting so many people of all ages with a shared passion for the outdoors and for winter sports.

Mountains Not For Profit

Across North America, communities are taking back their local mountains, redefining the spirit of skiing and snowboarding at its core. Mountains Not for Profit explores the stories of four non-profit ski areas that have flipped the script on corporate-driven snow culture. These mountains thrive on volunteer effort, donations, and the sheer joy of carving turns. They are proof that passion, grit, and community can and have kept the soul of skiing alive.

These mountains aren’t driven by profit—they run on something deeper. A social currency powered by the people who live to ski and ride without the flashy distractions of mega-resorts. Mountains Not for Profit captures the heart and soul of these essential ski areas and the communities that keep them alive.

I owe my passion for the sport of skiing to the many small, community-run mountains of the East Coast. This project with Indy Pass has a special place in my heart because for so many, these local resorts are the lifeblood of their community.

For this project, we utilized a variety of digital marketing channels in collaboration with Indy Pass to both promote the film and highlight the three amazing mountains many people have never heard of.

Inclusion in our weekly email newsletter, dedicated email campaigns sent to qualified and engaged audiences, inclusion in our annual film pre-roll, and social media-specific campaigns created an effective and relatively low-budget digital marketing strategy for the film.

The Way Back

The Way Back is a film honoring Western heritage, connection to land, and the healing power of nature. It follows the adventure of three unique women on a horse-packing mission deep into the Wyoming Range to ski three high alpine peaks.

Their route follows the history of Amy Jane David’s family, who homesteaded the foothills of these mountains in the early 1900s. As the three travel higher into the mountains, deeper stories emerge, revealing shared injury, grief, perseverance, identity, and community among these three women.

The Way Back is a unique and very personal film for many reasons, and the digital content and marketing planning needed to reflect the authenticity of the story.

In collaboration with Wrangler Jeans, Icelantic Skis, and Rab Equipment, we created a full-scope media and marketing plan for the promotion and release of the film. Leveraging the many interwoven storylines revealed through the film, we incorporated our sponsors into digital short series, various social shorts, and email-specific campaigns, and behind-the-scenes interviews surrounding life in the outdoors, sharing this lifestyle with friends, and the unique way the project came together.

The Hypocrite

In the context of climate advocacy, this film examines the inherent contradiction between personal actions and systemic efforts. The story is masterfully woven through the perspective of a professional skier confronting the complex interplay between advocating for change and relying on fossil fuels for athletic pursuits. The film aspires to foster unity and collaboration within the outdoor community, transcending perceived hypocrisy and feelings of not fitting in. It aims to dismantle the culture of individual blame and guilt, focusing instead on the systemic shifts required to pave the way for a sustainable future. By erasing the boundaries that label individuals as hypocrites, the narrative invites viewers to recognize the urgent need for collective action and change.
